Green concerns prompt Prince Charles to skip ski holiday - Yahoo! News

LONDON (AFP) -
Prince Charles' name=c1> SEARCHNews News Photos Images Web' name=c3> Prince Charles is skipping his annual ski holiday in Switzerland to avoid the plane flights that contribute to global warming, a source close to the prince said.
The prince, who has for more than 25 years usually spent part of the winter at the Klosters ski resort, "has not planned a ski holiday this year in order to reduce his carbon footprint," the source told AFP.
Clarence House, the prince's official residence, declined to comment on what it called the prince's private holiday plans.
The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday that the prince, who has long taken initiatives to protect the environment, had cancelled his ski holiday after he was criticized for a planned visit to the United States on January 27 and 28.
Prince Charles is due to receive a prize for campaigning on green issues.
However, several environmental organizations accused him of "green hypocrisy," criticizing him for traveling by plane.
