PM says Govt already acting on Stern report.
The Prime Minister says he is interested to meet British economist Sir Nicholas Stern in Canberra today.
Sir Nicholas wrote a major report on climate change, warning the world faces a massive bill unless urgent action is taken to cut greenhouse gas production.
John Howard told Channel 9 the economist is in favour of clean coal technology and considers a role for nuclear power.
Mr Howard says the Government is already taking action on those recommendations.
"He factors in nuclear power, it's the Labor Party that won't factor in nuclear power and the Greens," he said.
"We will factor it in and when it becomes economic, we should use nuclear power as a response to the problem of climate change."
Meanwhile, Greens leader Bob Brown says the major parties are ignoring Sir Nicholas's message.
"It's a good thing that both Kevin Rudd and John Howard are seeing Sir Nicholas Stern because they need a jolt into reality," he said.
"They need to catch up.
"The Greens don't need to talk with him, we agree with what he says, he agrees with what we're doing.
"It's the big parties here who are living on a desert island with the water rising, as far as their grip on reality on climate changes is concerned."
