Canada seal hunters stuck in ice
energy
By Richard Reynolds
A fleet of more than 100 boats returning from Canada's controversial seal hunt is stuck in ice off Newfoundland.
Some of the boats have been stuck for almost a week and some are reportedly at risk of being crushed as north-easterly winds push the ice pack along.
At least three of the long-liner vessels have already been abandoned and even a Canadian Coast Guard ice breaker is stuck in the ice.
The strong winds are expected to last for another four or five days.
