Suzlon to build Australia's largest wind farm for AGL - India News - Webindia123.com

Suzlon Energy has announced that it would install a wind farm of 95 MW turbine capacity in rural South Australia for a gas company, which once completed next year will be the largest wind farm in that country.
The farm, to be built by Melbourne-based Suzlon Energy Australia Pty Ltd (SEA) which is a subsidiary of Suzlon Energy A/S of Denmark, has entered into a contract with Australian Gas Light Company (AGL) to design, procure, construct and commission a wind farm consisting of 45 units of the S88 2.1 MW wind turbines. It would become operational in 2007.

The farm will be located at Hallett, around 220 km north of Adelaide.

''This is an exciting day for Suzlon, and the one that we have worked hard to reach in Australia,'' said Dan Kofoed Hansen, CEO, SEA.

Suzlon was proudly continuing its expansion globally with its entrance into the Australian market with such a well-respected customer, the release quoted Indian subidiary's Chairman and CEO Tulsi Tanti saying.

''Suzlon Australia's team has professional experience and history in EPC contracting, whilst our India-based group has extensive experience in successfully providing total wind farm solutions. I believe the Suzlon groups combined background knowledge and expertise is set to deliver an outstanding wind power plant for AGL,'' he added.
