Nuclear boost to government power-

If anyone is wondering why a consensus seems to be emerging that nuclear power is OK, there is another reason besides our insatiable addiction to economic growth.

The generation of nuclear energy brings with it a very special need to expand and amplify the power of the state in the name of security.

Clearly the fear of terrorism is not enough to ensure the increased social discipline, conformity and obedience on which our governing elites have become so dependent.

Everybody knows nuclear power and its progeny of everlasting toxic waste are dangerous, so the arguments for yet more curbs on our liberties do not even have to be made. Scary.
