Economic Development Minister Bryan Green said the Liberal Opposition is back to playing catch-up with its observations about the introduction of ethanol into Tasmania.
“The competitive benefits of the availability of ethanol blended fuel in the State have been recognised by the Government for some time.
“In fact the Government through the Department of Economic Development and Crown Land Services has been involved in discussions with representatives of United Petroleum, which is a new entrant to Tasmanian fuel distribution.
“The Government is encouraging the potential introduction of ethanol mix and the price competition that is likely to engender.
“Certainly we would support allowing motorists wider choice when it comes to the fuel they buy.”
Mr Green said far from sitting on its hands the Government has been working to bring about improved choice for motorists while the Liberals doze at the wheel.
