The Federal Government says it will spend $53 million on an initiative to encourage households and small businesses across Australia to become more energy-efficient.
Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull says the initiative will involve a mail-out of information about climate change.
Mr Turnbull says households will also be given money to help combat global warming through measures such as tree plantings.
"This $52.8 million program will be about greener homes for a cooler planet," he said.
"Twenty per cent of our emissions in Australia come from our 7 million households and all of us can reduce our carbon intensity, reduce our emissions by a whole range of measures."
