Hythane(TM) Receives Global Impact Award: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance
DENVER, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Denver-based Hythane Company, which produces a patented blend of natural gas and hydrogen, received the 2006 CSIA Apex award for Best Use of Technology for a Global Impact. The award, sponsored by Colorado's Technology Association, is a testimonial to Hythane Company's dedication to bridging the gap between the fossil-fueled present and the hydrogen future.
"Hythane fuel is gradually introducing hydrogen into energy consumption which will lead to further adoption of the clean-burning fuel," explained Roger Marmaro, Hythane Company president and co-inventor. "Additionally, Hythane reduces vehicular emissions by 50 percent over conventional natural gas while still being economically viable without grants and subsidies."
The award was presented at the 6th annual CSIA Apex Awards, which recognizes excellence in Colorado's technology industry and is one of the largest annual technology award events in the nation.
"CSIA is proud once again to be able to shine a spotlight on the innovative leaders and companies that make up a world-class advanced technology industry," said Paul Bauer, 2005/2006 CSIA Apex Chairman. "Our winners and the entire group of nominees are doing important work that is changing the future."
Hythane demonstrated its global impact by signing memos of understanding in December to convert up to 10,000 busses in five Chinese cities in order to help China ease its air pollution crisis. The Hythane Company is also working in the United States having recently signed a memo of understanding to create energy stations in the City of Barstow, Calif., that would supply hydrogen, natural gas and Hythane. The city is also looking into converting its municipal fleets to Hythane so that it can meet strict emission standards.
"Hythane is the first step in the transition towards cleaner energy sources," said hydrogen industry pioneer Frank Lynch, Hythane co-inventor and member of various industry safety and standards boards. "It is gratifying to be recognized for our commitment to reducing air pollution worldwide."
