MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH --- TRANS-CONTINENTAL LNG PIPELINES ARE THE WAY TO GO

Did Carpenter really say this .... "it is time to revisit the idea of a transcontinental pipeline carrying liquified natural gas (LNG) from Western Australia and the Northern Territory to the east coast..."

You can ship the stuff at -130degrees in cryogenic tankers , but it's a bit hard to pipe it any distance

WA urges natural gas power over nuclear. 05/06/2006. ABC News Online

The Western Australian Government says the country should be using its natural gas resources to supply future energy needs, rather than opening a debate on nuclear power.
Western Australian Premier Alan Carpenter says some of the gas in Australia's huge offshore deposits should be saved for domestic use, rather than exported.
Mr Carpenter says it is time to revisit the idea of a transcontinental pipeline carrying liquified natural gas (LNG) from Western Australia and the Northern Territory to the east coast.
"Australia should have a national strategy to deal with energy, rather than shipping offshore all of our LNG," he said.
"Some of it should be reserved for our own domestic industry, Western Australia, and via a transnational pipeline, the east coast of Australia."
"It's a much better alternative than nuclear fuels."
Mr Carpenter says the uranium debate is only useful because it will become very clear that Australia already has the means to supply its future energy needs.
"We have got an enormous abundance of natural gas in Commonwealth waters off Western Australia and off the Northern Territory," he said.
"It is an abundant supply of energy for Australia's future - relatively clean energy, relatively easily accessible.
"All we are saying is, a percentage of that, not all of it, should be reserved for the Australian domestic energy needs."
