Come all ye faithfull -- and join the Herd
Bishop talks climate change
BISHOP George Browning joined the climate change debate when he spoke at the Blessing of the Herd ceremony in Bega on Sunday.
Bishop Browning, who is the Anglican Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn, told those gathered about a book titled 'Can the Tree of Life survive climate change' in which it says that if we all aspire to the standard of living of the very wealthy there are not enough resources on earth to allow this.
"We therefore need to live in an appropriate and balanced way and be thankful that we live in a grace-filled world," Bishop Browning said.
The ceremony was held in the grounds of the Bega Cheese factory before a congregation of about 60 people, including the Member for Bega, Andrew Constance, and the mayor, Cr Tony Allen.
After his address the Bishop sprinkled water on the Apps family dairy herd and conferred the blessing.
The prizewinners in the children's poster competition conducted as part of the occasion were then announced.
