Russia suspends licenses for Shell-run Sakhalin-2 energy project
MOSCOW (AFP) - Russia has suspended 12 water use licenses for the Shell-run Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project after uncovering violations of environmental law, the ministry of natural resources said in a statement.
The ministry's Amur region water resources department "has suspended 12 licenses for water use granted to Starstroi, which is carrying out work within the framework of Sakhalin-2", the statement said.
"The company has been given a two-month period to remove the designated violations, otherwise the licenses will be annulled," it said.
