DuPont to manufacture fuel cell components
The US-based industrial manufacturer DuPont has been given $1.1 million (£577,000) in funding to begin producing methanol-powered fuel cell components for use in fuel cells for military applications, Pennsylvania media has reported. The company is due to begin producing membrane electrode assemblies for fuel cells at their plant in Pennsylvania, the state's Daily & Sunday Review reports, with the funding provided under the Defence Production Act. The military is intending to use fuel cells as a lighter and more compact power source for communications equipment and weapons systems, Dennis Kountz, a DuPont senior research associate said.
