Just when we though the drought was due to climate change we are told it is solar activity --- will the IPCC report this -- will we get this in the news headlines tonight -- not on your nelly !?
Scientist predicts good rain during winter.
"An environmental scientist says he thinks Australia can expect some good rain this winter, based on research which links weather patterns to the sun's magnetic field.
Scientists from the University of New England say they are not exactly sure how, but sun spots and magnetic emissions are linked to the atmospheric process over the Pacific.
Robert Baker from the university's Department of Human and Environmental Studies says the current rain pattern mimics the patterns from 80 years ago.
'The drought that we've just had in the last 12 months was very much predictable as part of a sun spot minimum,' he said.
'Now if it keeps tracking, we should be getting good rain in the winter and possibly for the next 18 months.'
