Govt challenged to reveal Snowy sale legal advice

Federal Greens' leader Bob Brown has urged the Government to release its legal advice about the sale of the Snowy hydro scheme.
Prime Minister John Howard says the sale will go ahead, despite pressure from within the Coalition to stop the Commonwealth selling off its stake in the company.
Senator Brown says he has legal advice which suggests the process used to get parliamentary approval for the sale of the Commonwealth's Snowy hydro shares was illegal.
He has written to Finance Minister Nick Minchin, asking for the Government's advice to be made public.
"It does throw a question mark over the sale of the shares in Snowy hydro," he said.
"It's important that question mark be removed, Senator Minchin is not saying that I'm wrong, he's simply saying the Government's right.
"Well I want to see what it is that gives the Government that confidence."
