NW Shelf's new leader
ONE of Australia's most respected oil and gas explorers has been appointed to run the huge North West Gas project.
Eve Howell, until earlier this year the boss of Apache Energy in Australia, is joining Woodside to take up the key Shelf project job as director of North West Shelf Ventures.
Ms Howell replaces former Shell executive Jack Hamilton, who surprised observers in May when he left to head InterOil, a Canadian company that is expanding its operations into Papua New Guinea.
At the time it was suggested Mr Hamilton was the latest executive to leave Woodside under the drive by chief executive officer Don Voelte to revitalise the company.
In her new job, Ms Howell will oversee all LNG, domestic gas and condensate production from Australia's biggest resources development.
The plant on the Burrup Peninsula in the Pilbara is being expanded with the construction of a fifth production train costing around $2 billion.
