HELBIO S.A. Hydrogen & Energy Production Systems, Unveil New Fuel Cell System

Patras--HELBIO S.A. Hydrogen & Energy Production Systems, in collaboration with Tropical S.A. introduce their latest product: the HT 1000 Fuel Cell Power System, a novel, efficient and portable fuel cell power system to meet the challenge of off-grid applications such as leisure activities and remote applications.
The HT 1000 uses the widely available liquid fuels (propane, LPG) typically employed in such activities as well as natural gas where available. Only minor modifications are required for the unit to run on bio-fuels such as bio-ethanol. Hydrogen is extracted from these fuels in a specially designed fuel processor and feeds a PEM fuel cell.
The system can produce 0.5-1.5 kW of electrical energy. Additionally, it can be configured to operate in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) mode also producing hot water. Combining this system with commercially available heating and cooking systems running on the above fuels, the user can enjoy complete energy independence wherever he/she is located.
The HT 1000 addresses the needs of leisure activities such as campers/caravans/RVs, boats, special vehicles, remote cabins etc. It also finds applications in telecommunication retransmitters, antennas and other off-grid and remote applications.
The HT 1000 was presented to the public in the “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells” exhibit of the Hannover Fair on April 24-28, 2006. It was received with great interest and many potential users and distributors are anxiously waiting its commercial distribution which is expected in Q1, 2007.
